Cycle city – tours, tips, and travel

bicycle-668764_640Some of you heartier souls have been riding your bikes throughout the winter, and many of you have been out riding – recreationally, running errands, or commuting – since the snow and ice melted.

Others (like me) haven’t rolled the bike out yet. But it’s time to pin back my pantleg and get moving.

We’ve got lots of events and resources for cyclists and would-be cyclists, plus some exciting community news.

CAB Bikeshare

We’re thrilled to announce that Central Library in downtown Kitchener will be home to the newest Community Access Bikeshare station!

Community Access Bikeshare (or CAB) is an innovative project designed to provide affordable public access to bicycles. Find out how to become a member. We’ll let you know when the bike station is up and running.

Kitchener Public Library is working with local Aboriginal people and organizations, BikeKitchener, archaeologists, and historians to bring you three unique tours to archaeological sites and Aboriginal cultural centres in the city.

Bike routes will include park trails and sharing the road with vehicles. Each tour ends at Central Library for refreshments and an opportunity to see From Each Side of the Grand, a Six Nations Land Claims Exhibit. We recommend you bring water, a bike lock and helmet with you. See the full schedule of Aboriginal History Month events.

No registration is required for these tours. We’ve got a long, short, and medium-length ride, so everyone can participate!
