Last week, Tri-Pride celebrated Pride Week with a series of events including a music festival in Carl Zehr Square and a family picnic in Riverside Park.

In fact, all of June is Pride Month, so we wanted to turn the spotlight on some great LGBTQ resources for you, from books to movies, magazines, and more.

First of all, let’s talk about Caitlyn Jenner. It seems that everyone is. Formerly known as Bruce Jenner, this Olympic athlete has transitioned and revealed her new name in an extensive interview in Vanity Fair magazine, with photos by Annie Liebovitz. Caitlyn has said she hopes to raise awareness of the many issues trans people face, including high rates of suicide and poverty.

You can use your library card and Zinio to download the July issue of Vanity Fair to your computer, phone, or tablet, for free and start reading it now. If you haven’t used Zinio before, find out more. You can save a lot of time and money by downloading magazines.

We’ve also created a list of recommended reads by or about trans people for adults, teens, and children. This is a short list – there’s plenty more on our shelves.

Here’s a broader list of LGBTQ reads – including fiction, graphic novels, parenting guides, short stories, essays, and more.

We also have a Pride list for children – this list can be found on our Kid’s Page all year round.

And last, but not least, we’ve got plenty of movies with LGBTQ themes or characters – here are a few favourites.

How are you celebrating Pride Month?
