Teen Summer Challenge – there’s still time!

Draw or build a robot. Create a new holiday. Share a weird dream. Do a good deed. Suggest a book. Translate your favourite quote into a new language. Make an obstacle course for a pet or insect.

These are just a few of the 75 challenges our Youth Advisory Council set for the 2015 Teen Summer Challenge.

We’re stunned at the results – 1,857 entries have been submitted so far, and there are still seven days left!

The Teen Summer Challenge is for kids age 12 and up, or going into Grade 7 this September. Teens and tweens pick up a booklet listing all 75 challenges and start checking them off, and submitting the results. Each completed challenge earns one entry into the Grand Prize draw for a 16GB iPad mini. Teens who complete all 75 challenges automatically win a summer prize pack. Plus, we’ve already handed out 21 weekly prizes.

We’d like to thank the teens in our Youth Advisory Council for creating the 75 unique challenges, and Kevin Page, teen services librarian, for getting teens involved and connected to their community – and to each other – during the summer months.
