It’s back-to-school time – and we just happen to have a beautiful, functional 16-month calendar for you that starts on September 1st, 2015, and runs through to December 31, 2016.
If you have kids, they’re back in school.. If you’re a student or a teacher, you’re back in school. That means homework assignments, parent-teacher nights, and extracurricular activities. It’s time to get organized!
And our Leejay Levene calendar can help you do it – for just $10.
Leejay Levene was just 18 years old when he died during routine dental surgery in 2007.
Since his death, his family has created a unique way to honour their son and brother, while making sure his life continues to have a positive impact in his community. Each year, the Levene family donates the use of Leejay’s art work to a local non-profit organization. The work is then reproduced in a calendar, with proceeds from sales of the calendar going to a non-profit organization.
We’re pleased the Levene family chose Kitchener Public Library as the 2016 beneficiaries. Proceeds from the Leejay Levene 2016 calendar will be used to create a Teen Tech Livingroom at Central Library – new furniture and technology that will create a fun, creative space where teens can create, discover, learn, socialize, and share. Please watch this brief message from Leejay’s mother, Shirley, to learn more.
Please pick up a calendar today, at any Kitchener Public Library location. Just $10 will make a difference in your community. These calendars also make a great gift for teachers, caregivers, and grandparents. The calendar includes inspirational quotes on each page, from people such as Governor General David Johnston, Mayor Berry Vrbanovic, authors Emma Donoghue, Lawrence Hill, Charlotte Gray, Tasneem Jamal, as well as CBC’s Heather Hiscox, Dr. Marla Shapiro, and many more, who all generously agreed to contribute.
Speaking of making a difference in the community – we have to thank two of our biggest supporters, Olivia and Claire. These two girls hosted a family fun day complete with face painting, balloons, and lemonade, and sold Leejay Levene calendars at their event – raising $389. Thank you, Olivia and Claire! Your unselfish enthusiasm and kindness are very much appreciated.
