TGIF: Feb. 20 & 21

Seedy Saturday_adWe’re nearing that point in winter when the days are noticeably longer, and a few precociously early green shoots have been spotted. It’s time to start dreaming and scheming, planning and plotting – your garden, that is!

Whether you’re an old pro or just getting started with a few containers, join us this weekend for the annual Seedy Saturday extravaganza at Central Library, hosted with our partners, Kitchener Horticultural Society and Kitchener Master Gardeners. The event is free and no registration is required. Just drop in and check out the seed swap, vendors, and these lectures with expert guest speakers:

9:30 am – Old Fashioned Favourites with James Graham, past president of the Ontario Horticultural Association

9:45 am – From Seed to Table with Christine Gilhuly, Kitchener Master Gardener

11 am – Hints and Tricks for Gardeners with Dugald Cameron, retired owner of GardenImports, Toronto

11:30 am – Sprouts and Microgreens: Superfoods, Super Fun with Alan Watts from Anything Grows Seed Co.

12:15 pm – Sowing the Seeds of Social Change with Susan Koswan, writer and award-winning active environmentalist

While you’re here, be sure to check out Garden Safari, an exhibit of beautiful photos by Naomi Smith, in the Gallery on the lower level. Pick up a hot drink or delicious lunch at Hacienda Coffee on the main level, and spend the day with us!
