Presenting the Giller Prize!

Are you looking to find your next great Canadian read? Now is the time to try some of the newest home-grown treasures in fiction. Thankfully, the Scotiabank Giller Prize has produced a handy list of the best of 2021 with the longlist of contenders for this year’s prize. Earlier this month, the list was narrowed down from twelve books to the top five, one of which will win this year’s $100,000 prize on November 8th.  

The Giller Prize has been awarded since 1994. In honour of his late wife, the literary critic Doris Giller, Jack Rabinovitch created the Giller Prize to recognize the excellence of Canadian fiction – either long or short. Since then, the list of winners has included Vincent Lam, Alice Munro and Esi Edugyan! 

This year, the prize will go to one of these five authors: 

Tune into CBC or CBC Gem streaming to find out who will win this year’s Giller Prize. The show starts at 9 pm on November 8th and is hosted by Paul Sun-Hyung Lee and Rupi Kaur.
