Be a part of the art

Janice Lee_Artist At Work

We’re excited to be working with the 2015 City of Kitchener Artist-in-Residence, Janice Lee – and you can be a part of it too!

Janice is a folk artist and storyteller who is working on a video poem project titled Folk Myths of Kitchener.

She’ll be out in the city asking people to collaborate on four videopoems featuring the Iron Horse Trail, the Kitchener Market, Downtown Kitchener, and Kitchener Public Library.

Janice has already collected thoughts from you – our customers and community – at Central Library on June 13 and at Forest Heights Community Library on June 19. You can read some of those quotes on her blog. She’ll use these words to write a poem about the library.

Janice is returning in July, visiting all library locations to film people speaking the poem. She’ll edit the film and incorporate original music. The videopoems and poetry posters will be released as they are completed, and then shown all together at a show in December, 2015.

The completed project will reflect how Kitchener residents felt about their community in 2015 for generations to come. Want to be a part of it? Please join us for filming with Janice on the following dates. No registration required; just show up! All ages welcome.
